Speaking at Al-Manar mosque London

The Foundation was invited to participate in the Open Iftar Project at Al-Manar Heritage Centre, organised jointly by Open Tent Project and Visit my Mosque Project. The reason for the event was because this year the fast of Ashura and the fast of Yom Kippur occurred within 24 hours of each other.

Mehri Niknam spoke on the similarities between the principles of fasting in Judaism and Islam. She pointed out that despite populists presenting Islam and Judaism as having nothing in common; the truth is that the similarities are far greater than our differences. She pointed out several of the major similarities of theological and ethical reasons for fasting in Islam and Judaism.

The talk was very much appreciated as the participants were very surprised to hear the similarities.

Cooperation with the Al-Manar mosque, Open Iftar Project and Visit My Mosque Project are ongoing.
