Another positive outcome of the work of the Foundation’s Council of Imams and Rabbis was on Thursday 16th June, when The London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre held its VIP launch of Exhibition Islam at the mosque.
The Foundation cooperated with the organizers of the exhibition and since the senior Imam of the mosque, Sheikh Khalifa, and Rabbi Dayan Binstock, senior Rabbi of St John's Wood Orthodox synagogue are both members of the Council, Rabbi Binstock was invited to be the Jewish speaker at the launch.
More than two hundred representatives of Muslim community and other faith organisations were invited. The key note speech was given by H.E. Dr Abdullah bin Abdulmuhsin Al-Turki, Secretary General of Muslim World League who emphasized the major role of Islam as a religion of peace and the importance of cooperation with people of Abrahamic Faiths in promoting a peaceful world.
Rabbi Binstock was received most courteously and introduced by H.E. Khalid Al-Dwaisan the Ambassador of Kuwait. The Rabbi spoke about the significance of the work of the Council of Imams and Rabbis as well as all other forms of interfaith interactions for promoting a peaceful and cohesive society in Britain.
