Interfaith Iftar at Central Mosque, London

The Central mosque in St John’s Wood, London, held an interfaith Iftar on Thursday 25th of June. Mehri Niknam and Hanna Yusuf represented the Joseph Interfaith Foundation.

The Foundation has a longstanding and successful cooperating with the mosque. Sheikh Khalifa, the senior imam of the mosque is a senior member of the Foundation’s National Council of Imams & Rabbis. Dr Dubayan, Director general of the mosque and the Islamic Cultural Centre, said: “ Mehri Niknam is well known at the mosque and she is always very welcomed here”.

The evening was dedicated to Remembering Srebrenica, the genocide of over 8000 Muslim boys and men in Bosnia which took place 20 years ago at the hands of the Serbs militia. The Foundation is very involved in projects which bring Srebrenica genocide to the attention of young people in this country. Dr Waqar Azmi, the president of Srebrenica Commission was the guest speaker. He highlighted the work of the Foundation with the Commission and acknowledged its importance.

The Foundation’s cooperation with the mosque and the Srebrenica Commission is ongoing.
